According to
the USRA, beginning January, 2004 any Tournament Director(TD) wishing to
have their tournament "sanctioned" by the USRA must submit an
official sanctioning application to the USRA prior to the actual event. A
sanctioned tournament is the only way a player can earn points, establish a
ranking, be accurately seeded at tournaments, and track their national
progress throughout a season. TD's are responsible for contacting their
associations state president and requesting their tournament to be
sanctioned. The state president will then fill out and submit the sanction
application to the USRA along with the $100.00 sanctioning fee. (the TD is
ultimately responsible for the $100.00 sanctioning fee). Once the fees have
been paid and the USRA has sanctioned the event the TD is allowed access to
tournament scheduling software designed to assist the TD in managing all
aspects of the tournament, player information access, and any
paperwork/forms necessary to track and report tournament information. Upon
completion of the tournament and proper reporting/filing of tournament
results by the TD to the USRA, the USRA will refund $50.00 to whoever paid
the sanctioning fee. This recent change in policy by the USRA is designed to
increase compliance by TD's in submitting tournament results in a timely
manner and will aid in keeping an up to date rankings list by the USRA. Any
questions concerning this policy may be referred to any of the WRA board
members. To aid the TD's the WRA will make every effort to have a
representative at each tournament to assist with the player check-in
process to ensure every player is a USRA/WRA member and to assist with any
questions. Expect
